Mary Grushinski

Mary Lou Grushinski, of South Scranton, who would have been 64 years old on January 19th, died Sunday morning at home surrounded by her family. Her husband of 44 years is Richard D. Grushinski. Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of the late Thomas and Harriet M. Burns Owens. She was a 1972 graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish, worked for Aramark as a cafeteria supervisor for the Scranton School District, mostly at the John Adams School for 17 years. She is also survived by three sons, Richard Jr. and wife Alexandra, Susquehanna, Brian, Scranton, Timothy, Duryea, one daughter, Dana Grushinski, Scranton, two sisters; Kathleen M.  Grushinski and  husband Anthony, Clarks Summit, Anita N. Bush and husband John, Amsterdam, NY,, two brothers; Kevin May and wife Catherine, Roaring Brook, Kenneth Owens, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Lou was a sharing, kind, selfless person whose family and friends needs were met before her own and will be greatly missed by her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and sister who enjoyed watching the tv show SVU and watching her favorite movie, It’s a Wonderful Life. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Chamoun and his PA Eileen, along with the nurses and staff at Moses Taylor Oncology and especially to Karen, Diane and Sue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Scott P. Sterowski, Thursday at 10 am in Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Avenue, South Scranton. Interment will follow in Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Cemetery, Minooka section. Viewing for family and friends will be on Wednesday, 4 to 7 pm and on Thursday, 8:45 am to 9:15 in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. For those attending the Mass on Thursday at 10 am, you are requested to go directly to the church.

Burial Date: January 10, 2019

Viewing for family and friends will be on Wednesday, 4 to 7 pm and on Thursday, 8:45 am to 9:15 in the funeral home.
