Mary Krul

Mary A “Dolly” Krul, 84, died Friday at home after an extended illness. She was the widow of Michael A. Krul, who died on November 6, 2000. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Carmella Malara Genovese. Mary was a 1949 graduate of West Scranton High School, retired from the local garment industry and was a life long member of St. Lucy’s Church and the church Altar & Rosary Society. Mary lived for her husband, daughter and her nieces and nephews whom she loved as if they were her own children. She was a devout participant of St. Ann’s Novena, enjoyed cooking, baking, and was an avid sports fan, especially baseball, basketball, football and Penn State Football, crossword puzzles, along with playing board games with her daughter, and nieces. Mary is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Krul with whom she resided, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Rose Gagliardi, Dorothy Cosmello, Santa Olenick, Nancie Collarini, five brothers, Mariano, Demetrio, Ignazio, Joseph and William Genovese. In addition she is also survived by two sisters inlaw, Elaine Borys, Scranton, and Angela Bouselli, Moscow. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Lucy’s Church, to be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Sam J. Ferretti, Pastor. Interment will follow in the Cathedral Cemetery. Viewing for family and friends will be on Monday, 4 to 8 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to St. Lucy’s Church, 949 Scranton St., Scranton, PA 18504.
