Mary P. “Pat” Mrowca Topar, 83, died January 18, 2025, at The Gardens of Green Ridge. Born in Taylor, she is the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Mrowca and is the widow of Benjamin W. Topar who died in 2018. The couple were married 57 years at the time of Ben’s passing.
Mary was a graduate of West Scranton High School, attended church at St. Rita’s Church in Gouldsboro, with her son Ben and was a member of the Gouldsboro Historical Society and was known for her excellent baking skills and artistic glass painting, and well known to her family and friends as “Pat”.
She is survived by her sons, Benjamin J. Topar and wife Susan, Newfoundland, David Topar, Hawaii, grandsons, Jonathan Topar and wife Jacqui, Scranton, Matthew Topar, Hawaii, brother, Joseph Mrowca, Delaware. Niece and nephews, Joseph Mrowca Jr., Ann Mrowca and Steven Mrowca.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 24 at 12:30 pm, celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Fred Riegler, Pastor, at St. Rita’s Roman Catholic Church, 512 Main Street, Gouldsboro, PA 18424.
Inurnment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow will be held on Tuesday, May 27, at 12 noon. Arrangements under the care and direction of the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, West Scranton.
