Mary J. Wadika, 95, a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday from natural causes. Her husband of 45 years Peter J. Wadika passed away in 1997. Mary’s family meant everything to her. She and her husband, Peter, did everything with their daughters and they spent countless hours with their grandchildren. Mary would travel across oceans in order to see her children and grandchildren. Mary was the daughter of the late Stanley and Anna Vickerowski Potochney. She was a 1945 graduate of Scranton Technical High School, and she retired in 1990 from Tobyhanna Army Depot. Mary is survived by daughters Rebekah W. Flanagan (Robert M.) Moscow and children Ruth, Robert, and Peter; Mary Wadika, DO (Richard Snow DO), Columbus, Ohio, and daughters Madeline, Catherine, and Elizabeth; and Sarai W. McAndrew, Scranton, and daughters Anna and Mary. She is also survived by two great granddaughters, Serafina and Sloane and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Olga Potochney, Jean Forsman and Lillian Lazorchak and an infant brother, Walter. Friends and family may call on Thursday morning from 9 to 11 AM at the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, Scranton. Father Gabriel Nicholas will conduct the funeral service at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Cemetery on West Gibson Street in Scranton.
