Michael S. Oconnor, 37, of Scranton, died Monday at home. Born in Scranton, he was the son of Deborah Beavers, step-father Lee Beavers and Albert Oconnor. He was a 2000 graduate of West Scranton Senior High School. Michael would volunteer his grass cutting abilities to the Central City Little League and he was known as “Bike Mike” who could be seen throughout the Scranton area riding and exploring on his bicycle. The elderly ladies of the neighborhood would make him cookies as a reward for his kindness extended to them. Michael is survived by four brothers; Dennis Stawinsky and wife Christine, Christopher Oconnor, Albert Oconnor, Shawn Oconnor and wife Sarah, one Sister, Melissa Schmidt and husband Frank, all of Scranton. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends may respectfully call Sunday, January 7th, 2017, from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. With a Blessing Service to be held by the Rev. Deacon Carmine Mendicino in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Inurnment will be at Fairview Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
