Paul E. Bauman Jr, 83, of West Scranton, went to heaven with laugher in his heart on April 1st when he peacefully closed his eyes. Paul is survived by his loving cohort and wife of almost 64 years, Mary Ann Mahoney Bauman. Born and raised in Scranton, he was the son of the late Paul E. and Marie A. Bauer Bauman. Educated in Scranton schools, Paul began his career as an auto mechanic under his father’s direction, continued as a maintenance mechanic for the former Murray Plant, Elliott Corporation and retired from Panel Prints. Cohorts hand in hand, Paul and Mary Ann camped their way through most of the country. With his mechanical expertise and joy he found in working with his hands, woodworking and camping, Paul was able to patent his invention of the “Campfire Cooker.” He enjoyed his weekly outings with friends to the golf course and was a member of numerous leagues. If you were a Pirates or Eagles fan, you became fast friends.  A jokester until the very end, he lived to make you laugh. If you were not smiling when you arrived, he ensured you did by the time you left. Paul is survived by two daughters Theresa Patchoski and husband William, Scranton; Catherine Bauman and wife Maddy Garzon, Scranton and by three sons, James and wife Deborah, Old Forge; Frank, Virginia; Bob Sr and wife Lisa, South Carolina.  During Pauls’ later years, he thoroughly cherished the time spent with his eight grandchildren: William Patchoski, Christopher Patchoski and wife Alicia, Paul Patchoski and wife Maggie, Kathleen Patchoski, Bryan Patchoski, Jenna Bauman, Bobby Bauman Jr., Brad Bauman, and his 3 great grandchildren; Jacob, Lucas and Charlotte Patchoski. He is also survived by his sister, Judith Walker, Drexel Hill, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul III and brother, John. In recognition of his long-time membership and service to St. Ann’s Basilica, a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Fran Landry, C.P., at 11 am on Thursday. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Viewing for family and friends will be on Wednesday, 4 to 7 pm, at Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Masks and social distancing are required at the funeral home and St. Ann’s Basilica. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite charity.

“Who told you today?” No one? “Well, I love you.”
