Rebecca Lynn Barrett, 43, of Taylor, died Saturday morning at home after a courageous struggle with breast cancer. Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of Kenneth M. and Ellie Mae Mlyczek Barrett of West Scranton. Rebecca was a 1990 graduate of West Scranton High School and attended Luzerne County Community College. She is a member of St. Ann’s Basilica Parish, the Zonta Club, the Bravehearts Campers, volunteered for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Shamrock Heart Foundation, where she made and distributed green carnation bouquets to local nursing homes. Rebecca was employed as an administrative assistant for Flow-Serve, Moosic. Along with her mother and father, she is also survived by her fiancée, Chris Kuratnick, Taylor, two sisters, Jean Marie Herne and husband Philip, Jennifer Ogden and husband Greg, one brother, Kevin Barrett, all of Scranton, two nieces, Jamie Addis, Stacy Barrett, serving in the Army, three nephews, Kevin Barrett Jr, serving in the Army, Nicholas and Zachary Ogden, a great nephew, Jaxon Addis. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Ann’s Basilica. Interment will follow in Marcy Cemetery, Duryea. Viewing for family and friends will be on Tuesday, 5 to 8 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.
