Sophie Zelinski, 94, died Tuesday, in the Geisinger/CMC VNA Hospice Unit. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Ignatius and Eva Sztubinski Zielinski. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, she was a lifelong member of SS Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, West Scranton and was a retired seamstress having worked in the local garment industry. She is survived by one sister, Irene Zielinski, Scranton, one brother, Joseph Zielinski and wife Miriam, Clarks Summit, eight nephews, Stanley and Joseph Kowaleski, Scranton, Thomas Kowaleski, Falls Church, VA, Richard Kowaleski and wife Mary Ann, Alpharetta, GA, Paul Zielinski and wife Debbie, Scranton, Joseph Wesoloski and wife Deborah, Scranton, Joseph and Michael Zielinski, Clarks Summit, three nieces, Evanne Besko and husband Gene, Scranton, Marie Soloman and husband Gary, Binghamton, NY, Janet Healey and husband James, Clarks Summit, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Sister Aneveen Zielinski, O.S.F., of the Bernardine Order, Helen and husband Stanley Kowaleski, Monica Wesoloski and husband Joseph, three brothers, Chester Zielinski, Stanley Zielinski, Felix and wife Ann Zielinski and one niece inlaw, Lynnea Kowaleski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 am in SS Peter and Paul R. C. Church, West Scranton, by the Rev. Fr. Sam J. Ferretti, Pastor. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Taylor. Viewing for family and friends will be on Monday, 5 to 8 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to SS Peter and Paul R.C. Church, 1309 West Locust Street, Scranton, PA 18504
