Thomas J. Davies, 81, of Taylor, formerly of Scranton, passed on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Geisinger Community Medical Center. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Owen E. and Blanche I. Malone Davies. Educated in Scranton schools, he was of the Catholic Faith, a United States Marine Corps veteran and worked for the Lackawanna County Housing Authority up until retirement.
He is survived by two sisters, Sandy Harper, Kingston, Maxine Epault, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, nephew and caregiver, Thomas J. Holland Jr, Taylor, and several additional nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Cathy White, two brothers, Jack and Buddy Davies, four sisters, Lois Nerozzi, Jane Territo, Candy Holmes, Mary Jane Herbert and companion Lindalee Shelesky.
An avid bowler, he bowled a 300 game in 1982 at Idle Hour Lanes. He loved to golf and spent many hours on the golf course with his nephew, Tommy Holland and was always ready for a tournament or just a game whenever asked. He was a diehard New York Yankee fan, not missing a single game if he could help it. One of his greatest joys was whenever they made the World Series. This year being no exception, we are sure he is rooting for them to win and will celebrate if they do. He was also a loyal New York Jets fan and every year he thought this might be the year they would be in the Super Bowl. He was a loving and supportive son, brother, uncle and friend. Always ready to lend a helping hand when needed and ask for nothing in return. He will be deeply missed by family and friends who loved him.
Private services were held in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, West Scranton.
