Warren Schadt

Warren M. Schadt, 86, Minooka, formerly of West Scranton, died Friday at home after a lengthy illness. His wife of 55 years, Julia Drost Schadt, died on July 22, 2011. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Milton H. and Ruth Meredith Schadt. Warren was a 1949 graduate of Scranton Technical High School, a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, South Scranton, where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent for more than 30 years. He also served on several of the Church Board’s and was a Youth Fellowship counselor at the church. Warren began his working career as an auto mechanic and service station owner/operator. He retired as a machine production control forklift operator for the Anemostat Corporation, for which he served as President of Sheet Metal Workers Union 550. Warren was an avid antique car enthusiast, train buff and would help all family and friends with his talents in auto repair, electrical and plumbing and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He is survived by two daughters, Karen Schadt and Tina O’Malley and husband Mark, two grandchildren, Ryan and Stephanie O’Malley, all of Scranton, nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by one brother, Monroe Schadt. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 am in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Prospect Avenue at Birch Street, South Scranton, by the Rev. Scott Miller, Pastor. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Viewing for family and friends will be on Monday, 2 to 5 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Those who will be attending church services are asked to meet on Tuesday at 10 am, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
