William A. Kobrynich, 76, Deerfield Beach, Florida, formerly of West Scranton, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Vacchiano Kobrynich, of 37 years, his parents, and brother, John “Jack” Kobrynich. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late William and Kathryn Durkin Kobrynich. A charming, talented artist, Bill was the Director of Interior and Industrial Design at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, President of The American Society of Interior Designers, South Florida Chapter, and served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. His sharp sense of humor captivated audiences wherever he went, especially at the American Ukrainian Veterans of Lackawanna County. A devoted fan of Bob Dylan, Pittsburgh Pirates and Penn State Football, his life was filled with passion, art, music, sports, and animals–particularly his dogs.
William is survived by his three children: Sasha Kobrynich, Deerfield Beach, William E. Kobrynich, wife Christine, Archbald, Jason Kobrynich, wife Christine, Clarks Summit, sister, Cathy Gallagher, husband Terrence V., Esq., Scranton, brother, James Kobrynich, wife Angela, Scranton, five grandchildren, Taya, Shaelyn, Alexa, Hailey, and Jason, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10am in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1404 Jackson Street, Scranton, by the Rev. Richard Fox, pastor. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Oram St., Scranton, with Military Honors by the Dickson City Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday from 4-7pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.
