William Joseph McDonald, 68, of West Scranton, passed peacefully late Saturday night at Geisinger/CMC after a brief battle with cancer. His loving wife Donna Lowe (Moser) McDonald never left his side. Affectionately known as “Frederick” by many, Billy blessed us all with his sense of humor, family values and friendship. Always just a phone call away, he was willing to help out in a moments notice or just chat if we needed. Aside from the light of his life, wife Donna, adventures with granddaughter Natalie brought out his inner child and soft side. His love for them kept his soul young and heart endlessly full. He will forever be missed. Born in Scranton, Billy was the son of the late Kenneth and Anne McDonald and was a 1970 graduate of St. Patrick’s High School. He was also a former member of St. Patrick’s Parish and retired from LT Verrastro Distributors. He is survived by his wife Donna Lowe (Moser) McDonald, five siblings; Andrew “Butchie” McDonald, Eileen McDonald, Anne DeMaio, Patricia Leahy and husband John, Theresa Milligan and husband John; stepdaughter, Staci Moser Faatz and husband Jesse; stepson, William Moser and fiancé Peyton Stanko, granddaughter, Natalie, in laws; Michele and Fran Walsh, Diane and Paul Cimino, John and Rose Lowe; and several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and are devastated by his loss.  Private services by the Rev. Richard Fox, Pastor of St. Patrick’s Parish was held on Thursday in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Memorial contributions can be made in Bill’s name to St. Patrick’s Food Pantry, 1403 Jackson Street, Scranton, PA 18504
